Belvedere Vodka vs. Grey Goose: What’s The Difference Between Them?

Belvedere and Grey Goose are among the most popular vodka brands in the world. Belvedere carries a super premium Polska Wodka label, which uses specific Polish water and grains in its production. Meanwhile, Grey Goose uses spring water mixed with wheat that has a softer texture than ordinary wheat.

Branding

The company behind Belvedere is LVMH or also known as LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton. It is a group of companies that specialize in luxury goods such as apparel and alcoholic beverages.

Belvedere’s branding is tailored towards those who are seeking not only delicious and high-quality vodka but also luxury. Among the celebrities that endorse this brand are Lady Gaga, Usher, and John Legend, among others.

Meanwhile, Grey Goose’s branding attracts more budget-conscious consumers who are looking for a smooth tasting vodka. Their branding approach is more laid-back and relatable, as well as their price points.

Raw Material and Production Process

Belvedere is a super premium Polish Vodka. Due to this official labeling, it must undergo strict standards and must have no artificial additive in its mixture.

The main ingredients that it uses are specific Polish potatoes and grains. It also uses various types of Dankowskie rye.

As for the process, the rye is collected then simmered to create a mash. This will then undergo the process of fermentation. After that, it will go to an agricultural distiller for 3 processes of distillation.

Meanwhile, the star ingredient on the Grey Goose is its softer “superior bread-making” quality wheat. Unlike ordinary wheat grown for only 6 months, it is grown for an additional 4 months to achieve its softer texture. It is also specifically planted during October so that it can be harvested by winter.

As for its process, the wheat used in Grey Goose is processed and distilled in Picardy France. It is then sent to Cognac, France, to distillate and mix with spring water. The nice thing about the distillation process of Grey Goose is that despite having wheat as its main ingredient, it is a gluten-free beverage.

Taste and Flavors

Both Belvedere and Grey Goose are smooth vodkas. Belvedere has a hint of vanilla and a note of rye’s palate. It has a clean and crisp finish with some lingering pepper spice after taste.

Aside from its pure and classic vodka flavor, Belvedere has the Maceration product line. It includes vodka infused with ginger, citrus, orange, black raspberry, pink grapefruit, bloody mary, lemon tea, and mango passion.

Meanwhile, Grey Goose has a more neutral-tasting note with a hint of black pepper and lemon peel. Its body is around medium-light with a clean yet crisp finish.

Just like Belvedere, Grey Goose also has a line of flavored vodka. These include L’Orange, Le Citron, La Vanille, Le Melon, and Cherry Noir.

Price

Since Belvedere Vodka is part of the LVMH group of companies, it is only natural to expect that it has a luxury brand price point. A 1 little bottle of the original Belvedere Vodka can cost between $39.99 to $49.99, while a little of Grey Goose Vodka is around $36.83 to $ 46.83.

Grey Goose vodka is generally cheaper compared to Belvedere. Even its flavored and premium variants are much cheaper as well.

Final Words

Belvedere and Grey Goose vodka are brands that have been in the industry for quite some time now.

The Belvedere is more geared towards the upscale market hence its luxury branding. However, it does have excellent taste and flavors as well that justify its price. Meanwhile, Grey Goose is a more affordable brand but still delivers excellent quality vodka.

By the end of the day, the choice is yours, and it is whatever suits your palate best and your budget.  So, which one do you prefer; Belvedere or Grey Goose?
